Season Conditions December 2017

Welcome to summer! We’ve had some incredibly weather here in Wanaka with lots of beautiful hot, sunny days. The snow melt from the mountains as well as some forecasted rain means that there is still high water and high flow rates in some of our canyons..

We’re active on Niger Stream and Big Nige, with double-guides running the Leaping Burn until water levels stabilise. In the Haast Pass region we’re up and running in Cross Creek, Imp Grotto, Robinson Creek, and Wai-Rata with Wilson Creek due to open very soon!

Mill Creek will begin running in January when the flows settle down a bit. Conditions continue to be variable as we ease out of spring, so it’s worth consulting with us to check whether or no your trip will be in high water.

Bring on summer!
