Current Conditions March 2017

After a wacky weather season, summer has fully arrived in Wanaka! Days of sunshine, blue skies, no wind–we’re lovin’ it. The emerald waters of Cross Creek are absolutely glowing, and the warm temps have us splashing up a storm. All of our canyons are in play, with our first trips into Mill Creek this season heading out now. In the Matukituki Valley we’re seeing lots of action in Niger Stream, Big Nige, and Leaping Burn, with some very adventurous guests going full speed into Leaping Burn Max. Towards Haast, those blue waters are extremely inviting, and we’re having a blast in Cross Creek and the next step up Robinson Creek, with its dramatic descent into that atmospheric canyon. The stunning Wilson Creek is running like a beaut, a huge effort with an even greater reward. And for those looking for a full-on New Zealand adventure, conditions are choice for our Wai-rata Heli Trip–a chopper ride in, a long day of adventuring through the canyon, and a jet boat ride down the river to finish the day. Epic. Come make the most of this gorgeous weather!
