Happy New Year from all of us at Deep Canyon! We hope your 2017 is off to a rockin’ start. Here in Wanaka, we are leading trips to canyons in all directions, with water levels finally normalizing to summer levels. Hurray! Niger Stream, Big Nige, and Leaping Burn in the Matukituki Valley are seeing a lot of action, and trips to Mill Creek look promising in the near future. Towards Haast, we have trips in the beautiful Cross Creek, Imp Grotto, Robinson Creek, and the amazing Wilson Creek. Our Wai-rata Heli-canyon trip has already given us some epic days this season–beautiful heli rides, gorgeous days in the remote Wai-rata canyon, and super fun jet boat rides out. Get into it! The odd rainstorm means that double-guiding may be required in certain canyons when water rises significantly, but we hope summer is here to stay!
